The activity started with a motorcade which started from the Cabetican all the way to the Betis High School.

BHS Principal Jesusa Agustin led the attendees including faculty, students, Batch ‘81 alumni, the Philippine National Police headed by PSupt. Rolly Reyes (Chief RHSG-RO3) and alumna of BHS, Zumbalers, KServico staff, Punzalan Funeral Homes, MDRMMO, barangay officials and stakeholders.

Agustin said “compared with last year’s ‘Brigada Eskwela’ mas simply siya ngayon, although we go to the process of preplanning like doing marketing, going to various radio stations to promote Brigada Eskwela 2017 konti lang ang oras in preparation. Last year, we have 3 months to prepare this year barely one month for us to do the brigada. We were able to invite various stakeholders, St. James cooperative, local and Camp Olivas Police that nag-pledge siya ng isang CR for this school year as a matter of fact nagbigay siya ng financial assistance na ayaw niyang pabanggit. Dahil alimnus siya at nakita kalagayan ng paaralan kaya siya nagcommit.”

She also added “The event was positive the faculty members and personnel were present to help and assist our stakeholders kung saan building or rooms kailangan I-improve. Some students are present in the event which show their concern in the school. Our classrooms are ready for upcoming school year 2018-2019 minimal improvement and repairs para maging healthy at ligtas and environment ng mga bata dito. This coming October our new building for Senior High ay malapit ng matapos.”

Aside for Betis High School’s ‘Brigada Eskwela,’ they started the early enrollment for upcoming Grade 7 and Senior High to ease the late enrollment in June.

Agustin thanked the stakeholders “for coming all over for us to show to the community that DepEd is one in terms of making the school better and safe for our school children.”

‘Brigada Eskwela’ started in 2003 as a voluntary program that encourages the community to help in preparing school facilities for the opening of classes every school year.

In 2008, it became mandatory for all schools nationwide.
