Capitol extends aid to families of ‘Dengvaxia recipient-victims

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The provincial government of Pampanga through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) has extended financial aid and food assistance to the families of the three school-children who allegedly died due to the controversial Dengvaxia, an anti-dengue vaccine.

The families of Wendell Cueller, 10 years old from Magalang; Kristine Jane Magtira, 12 from Candaba and Jica Juliana Domingo, 12 from Masantol each received P10,000 financial assistance from the Capitol and another P10,000 from Gov. Lilia ‘Nanay’ Pineda. They were also given one cavan of rice and two boxes of Mamon or sponge cake.

According to PSWD Officer Elizabeth Estiller-Baybayan, the governor is bent on assisting possible victims of Dengvaxia-related illnesses and deaths in the province.

It can be noted that Gov. Pineda has asked the Provincial Board to allocate an emergency fund to assist students who were injected with the dengue vaccine and might develop complications.

The governor also mobilized purok leaders, barangay health workers and nanay community volunteers to monitor the health condition of vaccinated students in their respective communities.

Records from the Department of Health Regional Office III show that some 47,358 children from Pampanga were administered with the said vaccine. — LIEZEL CAYANAN/PIO
