Clark Airport terminates pilferage suspects; OFW get P82,000 compensation

Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC), a subsidiary of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), has ordered the termination of six airport workers under private aviation services provider MIASCOR after their involvement in a luggage theft incident reported by Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Jovenil dela Cruz.

The move comes less than 48 hours after a video uploaded by dela Cruz went viral on Facebook.

A fact-finding investigation was immediately conducted by the management of CIAC following the incident. In less than 24 hours, the six suspects were identified prompting the management of CIAC to order their immediate suspension. The IDs and access pass to the airport of each suspect were also evoked.

Dela Cruz also received a total of P82,824 from MIASCOR as compensation for the lost items in the luggage. MIASCOR is the ground handler under contract with the airlines that service flights at the Clark International Airport. It is responsible in the handling of baggage of passengers.
