CSF recognizes teachers’ heroism

The Local Government of San Fernando, in partnership with the Department of Education, recognized some 282 retired teachers for their acts of heroism as educators and as Fernandino citizens.

During the tribute activity held January 30 at the Benigno Aquino Hall, the teachers received Certificates of Recognition and cash allowances from the government.

Of the 282, 253 are those who have been detained and maltreated in the 1980 local elections while the 29 recipients are retirees of calendar year 2016.

In his speech, Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa’ Santiago said the teachers deserve to be awarded for their invaluable sacrifices during their stint as public school teachers, thus contributed to the progress and development of the community.

“This is our way of expressing gratitude to all the hardworking teachers who relentlessly shared their knowledge and wisdom to their beloved students. Part of what we are and what we have today are results of the work and struggle of our second parents,” Santiago added.

Also present during the program were Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, Councilor BJ Lagman, and personnel from the City Schools Division of San Fernando.

This serves as the kick off activity for the 16th Cityhood Anniversary of San Fernando or Kaganapan 2017.
