Garbo plans to build P1 billion city hall

Mayor Crisostomo Garbo is planning to build a P1 billion worth city hall as part of his vision in turning Mabalacat a model city.

Garbo said the cost includes the purchase of a P400 million lot, a two-hectare property in Barangay Mabiga, beside San Rafael Church.

Meanwhile, the P600 million out of the total budget will be spent for the construction of the city hall including expenses for its facilities and equipment.

Garbo said the fund will come from a P1-billion bank loan.
“The loan will be paid for 12 years and we will only allot P8-million per month. That’s around P100-million per year. This will be done without sacrificing the operations, programs, and services of the city government needed by the people,” the mayor said.

At present, the city budget is about P700 million which comes mainly from the Clark Freeport Zone, the bus terminal and local business taxes.

Garbo said it is his vision to make Mabalacat a model city not only in Central Luzon, but in the whole Philippines, as well.

“I want to see Mabalacat City free from informal settlers. Wala ng nakatira sa mga estero, sa tabi ng ilog and I dream to convert it into a green city,” Garbo said.
