Korean fugitive falls in Nueva Ecija

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Government agents arrested a Korean fugitive, who allegedly went into hiding for several years in a remote village in Lupao, Nueva Ecija to avoid being detected by authorities, police said on Wednesday.

Jeon Dae Won, 58, was with his Filipina live-in partner in Barangay San Pedro when collared by Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents led by Armelo de Castro, said Senior Inspector Rodney Godio, Lupao police chief.

Godio said Jeon Dae Won is already familiar with residents in the community that made easy for BI agents and local police to locate the Korean.

“We showed the picture of Korean to residents who immediately herded us to the house of Jeon Dae Won,” said Godio when reached to comment of the Korean arrest.

Godio said the BI agents coordinated with the local police following reports that a fugitive Korean is hiding somewhere in said village.

“The initial report is overstaying Korean who failed to show travel documents to immigration agents when frisked in his residence,” Godio said in a report submitted to the regional police headquarters here.

It turned out later, Godio said that Jeon Dae Won is included in the immigration watchlist as among undocumented foreigner staying in the country.
