Medical mission treat 1,065 patients

LUBAO, Pampanga — At least 1,065 patients have benefitted from a free medical and dental mission sponsored by the Aguman Capampangan NW, USA (ACNU) over the week held at the M. Pineda Sports Complex here.

In an interview with ACNU president Mina Guinto-Tahayeri, she said of the 1,065 patient-beneficiaries, 225 were given dental while 845 were given medical services by members of the ACNU.

Tahayeri added that ACNU composed of 40 professionals in the dental and medical field, also distributed free medicines and relief goods. Aside from medicines, ACNU also gave the beneficiaries here in Lubao at least 1,200 sandals and 6,000 toothbrushes and toothpaste tubes.

During the dental and medical mission, indigents were served by the combined team coming from the US and the municipal health office of Lubao.

She furthered that the outreach mission the ACNU extended to 3 towns in the province which includes Lubao and another four areas outside the province.

“We do this because we love our cabalen. We are blessed. It’s time we give back,” Tahayeri, who is married to an Iranian and now resides in the US said.

In 1996, Ernie Turla founded the medical mission of the ACNU and started conducting medical and dental missions in 1998 in Pampanga.

The mission was chaired by Turla, Semion Mamaril, Akbar Tahayeri and Ben Agamat. It brought together professionals from Oregon and other parts of Northwest USA.

Meanwhile, Mayor Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab provided meals and a support crew of more than 100 composed of barangay health workers, doctors, nurses and massage therapists to assist in the mission.

“This project is very close to our hearts because our Governor Lilia ‘Nanay’ Pineda is giving focus to health services. Our local government units here in Pampanga are also following suit to this advocacy and assistance from our fellow Kapampangans from abroad are very much welcome,” the mayor said.

The project was made in coordination with the office of Pampanga Second District Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Governor Pineda, Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda and the municipal government of Lubao.

“On behalf of the Aguman Capampangan NW USA, we thank you for your support and also for giving us the opportunity to be of service to the residents of Lubao, Pampanga this coming February 16, 2017,” Tahayeri said.
