Pampanga women’s group run against violence

A Kapampangan women’s group recently held a fun run that aims to protect women and their children against violence.

Zonta Club of Pampanga, in partnership with the Department of Tourism in Central Luzon, held its “Takbo Kontra Abuzo” fun run last week at the CDC Parade Grounds.

About 500 women’s rights advocates joined the run including Georgina Hernandez, spokesperson of Vice President Leni Robredo.

VP Spokesperson Georgina Hernandez, representing VP Leni-Robredo, addresses the crowd.

In a social media post, Hernandez said the Office of the Vice President actively partners with organizations such as Zonta through #AngatBuhay.

“Through these partnerships, we hope to provide women opportunities to actively participate in economic, social, and political activities in their communities,” she said.

The Zonta Club of Pampanga has partnered with different agencies and organizations to promote and foster women empowerment since its chartering in June of 2012. It has been the advocacy of Zonta to conduct lectures, forums and educational campaigns in different schools and offices on Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence against Women and their Children Law. They have also provided medical missions, stress management seminars and wellness programs to women around the province.
