Phillippines has the second best food all over the world

Adobo? Lechon? Balut (duck embryo)? Anyone?

The Philippines took the spotlight anew after it landed in the second spot in the best food international poll.
In the poll, CNN asked “Which destination has the world’s best food?”

The Philippines made it to the second spot with 1,528 votes. It trailed behind Taiwan which received 8,242 votes.

“Blessed with an abundance of seafood, tropical fruits and creative cooks, there’s more to Filipino food than the mind-boggling balut (duck embryo),” CNN wrote.

CNN mentioned the famous adobo and lechon (roasted pig) as some of the best dishes in the Philippines. “Clearly, Asian food is on people’s minds these days. That or we have a lot of readers in the region who want to support their homeland’s culinary prowess. With the exception of Italy and Greece, every place on our list is in Asia.”

Travel and Living’s Andrew Zimmern and Anthony Bourdain praised Filipino food, even saying it’s going to be the next big thing. Zimmern and Bourdain have already visited the culinary capital of Pampanga province where they sample “batute tugak” (frog stuffed with pork) and the famous “sisig” (grilled pork face) of Aling Lucing.

Six other Asian countries made it to the list: Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, India, and Vietnam.
