Pinoy shooters in Houston hold fundraising event

HOUSTON, Texas – “Loyalty, brotherhood and respect.” Add the Filipino trait of “bayanihan” – that is the Houston Pinoy Gun Club.

To celebrate its 6th anniversary, the Houston Pinoy Gun Club (HPGC) recently held its fundraising shoot at the Bailey’s House of Guns Inc along Bluebonnet Drive, Houston, Texas. The proceeds in the fundraising shoot will go to the children of Ima’s Home for Children orphanage in the Philippines, according to HPGC founder Paul Vizcarra Osorio.

Osorio said a total of $1,110 had been raised during the fundraising shoot. The amount will be turned over to the management of Ima’s Home for Children orphanage.

Osorio, a nurse by profession, had established HOGC in September 2010 “for the betterment of all Filipino gun owners of Houston, Texas and its vicinity.” The Quezon City native said HPGC is not a mere gun club because it supports various charitable advocacies.

“Over the years from 2010 up to the present nag-create kami ng mga fundraising events. We collect used clothing, food and money for the victims of ‘Typhoon Ondoy’. Pero yung memorable yung sa “Yolanda” kasi na feature kami sa buong mundo thru TFC ( Balitang America) na frontrunner pagdating sa paghingi ng tulong from international communities. Even the Houston Police Department nagpadala ng donation thru HPGC in 2014,” said Osorio.

Last year, the HPGC received a plaque of appreciation from Congressman Gary Alejano and Congressman Asley Asedillo of the Magdalo Party List. The Philippine Air Force 505th Rescue Team also gave a ‘certification of recognition’ for their contribution in the country.

The HPGC last September 2015 sponsored child education in the Philippines thru the Answering the Cry of the Poor (ANCOP) thru the Couples for Christ as part of HPGC 5th anniversary.

“Last January, we were featured in a Houston local TV channel (KPRC13 news) again, naging frontrunner din kami sa buong Houston regarding Open Carry Law na nag start noong January 1, 2016. We were also featured sa mga local newspapers dito dahil sa mga community service na nagawa namin. This year, September 2016, we chose Ima’s Home for Children, an orphanage based in the Philippines to be our benefactor for this year’s HPGC Anniversary.”
