Players laud new Mimosa Golf Course

“Returning players already saw the improvements we implemented with our two golf courses, and we’re proud to say that this is only the beginning.”

This was according to Erwin Don Vinluan, current Golf Operations Director Filinvest Mimosa Golf Course at the Clark Freeport, on the feedback of players about the golf courses since their opening in June.

The courses ㅡ Acacia and Lakeview for beginners and enthusiasts, and the Mountainview Championship Course for low handicappers and seasoned veterans ㅡ have been receiving fantastic feedback from players and aficionados.

Vinluan said that returning players have also been impressed so far with the new driving range balls, hitting mats, LED monitors for advisories, and the locker rooms, among other added features of the golf course.

“We are very much pleased and happy with the improvements of the course as it is back in its glory days during the old Mimosa days. The fairways are perfect and the greens as well. It is back in its old self where few people are playing, unlike before that it was really crowded like a market place. Good job to the management for making this change,” said long-time golf aficionado Francis Limjoco, a construction magnate in Pampanga who plays golf in Mimosa twice a week with his son and nephew.

Filinvest has committed to invest P200 million in the golf course to bring it back to international standards. Most of this will go into the replacement of the irrigation systems, purchase of new ‘greenkeeping’ machinery and repair of sand traps, fairways and greens.

“We are also expecting a new fleet of golf carts to arrive soon, the planting of more trees, plus the purchase of fertilizer and lawn mowers to improve the condition of the greens and fairways.” Vinluan furthered.

World-Class Golf Course
For beginners and players who want to get in the game of golf, the par 72, 18-hole Acacia and Lakeview Course offers a friendly challenge. It can accommodate 240 players per day.

On the other hand, the Mountainview Championship Course is a par 72, 18-hole course that provides a challenge to even veteran golf players. It can accommodate 200 players daily.

“Our goal is to have a world class golf course that is at par with popular golf courses located in the United States, China and Dubai,” said Vinluan.

Managed and operated by Chroma Hospitality, the management company of Filinvest Development Corporation (FDC) it is the newest endeavor by the FDC along with brands such as Crimson, Quest Hotel and Conference Center Cebu, Azure and Canvass.

The Mimosa Golf Course is open to guests, site visits, online bookings and walk-ins. Operation starts at 5 am and ends at 8 pm daily. The course is now open to the general public.
