Zambales media to hold billiard tournament for a cause

Subic Bay Freeport — Media practitioners in Subic Bay Freeport, Olongapo City and Zambales will host the 2017 National Media 10-Ball Billiard Tournament here on Friday (April 21) to raise funds for a colleague suffering from stage four cancer.

The three-day multiple billiard events, coinciding with Olongapo City’s ‘Sibit-Sibit Summer Beach Mardi Gras Festival’ here, is an annual gathering of members of the working press who are billiard enthusiasts and serves to foster camaraderie and goodwill among media practitioners in Central Luzon and Metro Manila.

This year’s event also aims to raise funds for the benefit of a media colleague suffering from stage four cancer.
Top four winners in each division will receive cash prizes as follows: champion: P10,000; 1st Runner-Up: P5,000; 2nd Runner-Up: P3,000; and 3rd Runner-Up: P2,000.

The champion in each division will also receive a trophy.

Entrance fee is P500 and tournament will start at 1pm on April 21.

Aside from the media event, an 8-ball competition among expat residents and visitors are also slated during the three-day billiard festival that serves as one of the activities in the annual colorful summer festival in Olongapo.

Expats and women bar workers can join in the singles and mixed doubles competition.

The 8-ball invitational offers a total of P22,000 in cash prizes and trophies. (Dante M. Salvana)
