ANGELES CITY – A suspected illegal drugs trafficker was shot dead when he engaged anti-narcotics police in a shootout on Monday.
Senior Inspector Agnes Nolasco of the Angeles City Police Office (ACPO) identified the fatality as a certain “Jhunix”.
Nolasco said 30 others were arrested during the “one-time, big-time” anti-drugs campaign here. Two of the teenager suspects were brought to the Office of the City Social Welfare Department for counselling.
A significant amount of shabu was seized during the anti-drugs sweep in Angeles City on Monday.
Nolasco said the suspects were brought to different police stations here for further investigation. Charges are being readied against them for violation of the anti-drug act.
Nolasco said “this is the biggest number of arrested street peddlers in the history of ACPO campaign against illegal drugs.”
