113 students in Tarlac benefit from SPES program

TARLAC CITY — A total of 113 marginalized students in Tarlac received their Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) checks from Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

“Beneficiaries of the program are college students that rendered duty in the offices of the provincial government for 20 days,” DOLE Tarlac Field Office Head Aurita Laxamana said.

Each beneficiary received PhP3,629.44 which is DOLE’s share or 40 percent of total salary as the 60 percent was shouldered by the provincial government.

Beneficiaries were assigned as survey personnel, encoders, tax mappers, office assistants, and front desk personnel among others.

SPES is a flagship program of DOLE that enables poor but deserving students pursue their education while experiencing the real world of work.

“Any student who are 15 to 30 years old can apply for SPES provided that they should not have a failing grade and belong to a poor but deserving family,” Laxamana furthered.
