The city government through the Rural Health Unit (RHU) III in coordination with the City Health Office headed by Dra. Ma. Clara Aquino led a whole-day fun-fair for some 180 expectant mothers in celebration of Women’s Month, on Friday, March 17 at the Jade Hall, Xevera Lot Only in Xevera, Tabun.
Dubbed as ‘Buntis Congress 2017’, this year’s theme is, “A Happy & Healthy Mommy is a Happy & Healthy Baby.”
According to RHU III Physician Dr. Rosemarie Ann Manalo Liong said the participants from Barangays Calumpang, Marcos Village, Macapagal Village, Paralayunan, Bundagul, Sta. Maria, Madapdap, Mawaque Barrio, Mawaque Resettlement and Sapang Balen were entitled to free ‘buntis kits’ inclusive of baby clothes, alcohol, oil, cotton, vitamins, soap and diapers.
Fun booths offering free services were also put up to cater the needs and queries of the ‘buntis’.
These are Mommy and Baby Shop, Birth Plans, Family Planning, Exclusive Breastfeeding, Philhealth, Provider Initiated Counselling and Testing Booth, Photo Booth, Mommy Haircut and Nail Care by the Rotary Club of Dau, Dental Check-up by Dr. Ray Lingat and Dr. Jose Ramirez, Pre-Natal Check-up and Immunization, and laboratory tests including urinalysis, blood-typing, HIV testing, syphilis screening, random blood and sugar testing.
“This also aims to create awareness to pregnant women the benefits of maternal and child health before, during and after pregnancy,” Liong added.
