CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – A total of 1,040 scholars in Central Luzon have graduated through the Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) Undergraduate Scholarship Program from 2022 to 2024.
Among the graduates, 410 earned Latin honors, 16 emerged as topnotchers, and 516 successfully passed their respective board examinations.
During the sixth episode of the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas of the Philippine Information Agency for 2025, DOST Regional Director Julius Caesar Sicat discussed the scholarship opportunities offered by the agency.
He emphasized that DOST’s scholarship offerings are extensive, covering not only the Undergraduate Scholarship Program but also the Philippine Science High School Scholarship for high school students and scholarships for graduate programs.
Moreover, Sicat explained that these scholarship programs are competitive, requiring applicants to belong to the top 10 percent of their graduating class and to pass qualifying examinations
Successful examinees receive a comprehensive benefits package, including free tuition, book and clothing allowances, accident insurance, and access to training programs.
To further support scholars, DOST also organizes capacity-building programs aimed at developing leadership skills, enhancing career readiness, and fostering a strong sense of volunteerism.
As such, Sicat highlighted the outstanding achievements of scholars, demonstrating the program’s impact.
“In fact, last 2024, we have 19 summa cum laude, 67 magna cum laude, and 73 cum laude graduates. That’s how excellent our scholars are,” he highlighted.
For those who wish to apply for DOST scholarship programs, Sicat noted that application forms are available online and can be submitted digitally or through the Provincial Science and Technology Offices along with other required documents.
