2 Chinese nationals arrested; illegal clinic closed

Two Chinese nationals operating an illegal medical facility inside the Fontana Resorts and Leisure Park were arrested by government authorities on Tuesday.

Joint elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Regional Field Unit of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Region III, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) have conducted a joint operation after reports that Chinese nationals were treating possible cases of COVID-19 inside a Fontana villa converted into a seven-bed medical facility.

Arrested in the raid were Mr. Ling Hu, 45 years old, alleged owner of the medical facility; and Ms. Seung-Hyun Lee, 38 years old, pharmacist. The two Chinese nationals were taken to PNP Regional Office in Camp Olivas, City of San Fernando.

A lone patient was reportedly admitted at the illegal medical facility during the raid.

CDC officials have ordered the closure the illegal medical facility at Fontana Leisure Park.

This illegal activity not only violates the law but also poses danger to individuals who potentially need medical treatment for the deadly coronavirus disease, according to CDC.

CDC said it will not tolerate this illegal activity inside the Clark Freeport.

It said it will hold the management of Fontana accountable for allowing the medical facility to operate within their property.

“We assure Clark stakeholders, the locators, local communities and residents especially, that we will not stop until all those involved are prosecuted and punished,” the CDC said.

Hundreds of Chinese nationals descended on Clark Freeport Zone and nearby encompassing communities where they operate Philippines Offshore Gaming Operations (POGOs).
