CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) emphasized that over 2,000 Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs are currently available across Central Luzon.
During the 29th episode of the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas of the Philippine Information Agency, TESDA Assistant Regional Director Eric Ueda stated that diverse programs are offered through more than 500 accredited Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs) in the region.
These training courses are aligned with industry demands to ensure that graduates gain the necessary competencies for various sectors.
Ueda noted that TESDA programs are generally free and include allowances under scholarship offerings.
However, he clarified that private TVIs offer two modes of training, where individuals can either avail themselves of scholarships or pay for the courses.
The available training options include online, face-to-face, and blended learning modalities to provide flexibility.
Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years old and high school graduates, including those who have completed the Alternative Learning System.
For non-high school graduates, TESDA conducts community-based training programs to ensure access to technical education.
“We have different types of training modalities that can still be conducted. We have institution-based training, where if it is under a scholarship program, the minimum requirements must be met. If not, we can conduct community-based training,” he explained.
For application or inquiries, interested individuals may visit the official TESDA website at www.tesda.gov.ph or directly coordinate with the TESDA Technology Institutions or accredited TVIs in their respective areas.
They may also visit TESDA provincial offices for assistance in finding schools offering their desired programs.
Ueda highlighted the success of TESDA graduates, many of whom have secured employment locally and abroad, leading to improved livelihoods.
With this, he encouraged the public to take advantage of these education and training opportunities.
Moreover, Ueda underscored that TESDA serves as an alternative opportunity for individuals seeking skills training and employment, especially for those not pursuing higher education.
“TESDA is not a second opportunity, but an alternative opportunity for those who do not want to pursue higher education, or for those who have completed higher education but want to gain skills and find employment. TESDA is here to give you opportunities for employment through training and assessment,” he stated.
Furthermore, TESDA continues to collaborate with partner industries to support employment opportunities for its graduates.
The agency remains committed to providing accessible and high-quality TVET programs for Filipinos. (CLJD/MAECR, PIA Region 3-Pampanga)
