3 towns in Bataan lifts liquor ban amid GCQ period

BALANGA CITY — The municipal governments of Hermosa, Limay and Samal lifted the ban on sale and distribution of liquor or intoxicating beverages in their respective jurisdiction as Bataan transitioned to General Community Quarantine (GCQ) which started Monday.

However, the three municipalities only allow consumption of the alcoholic beverages within private residences only.

In an executive order signed by Hermosa Mayor Antonio Joseph Inton, all persons, entities, or establishments in the town with valid license or permit shall be allowed to sell or distribute liquor, wine, beer, or any other alcoholic or intoxicating beverages during the duration of GCQ.

The municipal police, town marshals, Business Permit and Licensing Officer, and other authorized municipal officials shall enforce the executive order to penalize any individual who are caught drinking alcoholic beverages in public areas.

In Limay, residents are also allowed to buy liquors provided that they will only consume it at home.

Similarly, Samal Mayor Aida Macalinao is also appealing to her constituents to avoid consumption of alcoholic beverages outside of their residences.

However, liquor ban in some local government units in Bataan is still in effect.

The municipal government of Dinalupihan is imposing the liquor ban which is effective 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

Also, Bagac Mayor Rommel Del Rosario issued an executive order instructing police and barangay tanods to conduct random checking of individuals to ensure that residents comply with the implementation of liquor ban.

Last March 22, Bataan Governor Albert Raymond Garcia prohibited “any person, including owners and managers of stores, hotels, restaurants, and other establishments of the same nature, which are allowed to operate, to sell, furnish, offer, buy, serve, liquors or intoxicating substances, or for any person to drink/consume liquors or intoxicating substances thereat during the entire period of the enhanced community quarantine.”
