IBA, Zambales — A total of 46 residents of San Antonio town graduated from the Technical-Vocational trainings on Dressmaking and Beauty Care of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
“The training was made possible through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of DSWD, in partnership with ATEC Technological College,” DSWD Regional Director Gemma Gabuya said.
Dressmaking graduates received high-speed sewing machines and sewing materials while Beauty Care completers got foot spa machines and manicure-pedicure tools.
“SLP helps disadvantaged communities in their socio-economic capacity through interventions like strengthening skills, competencies, abilities and resources of poor Filipino families that will be generated into a sustainable source of income,” Gabuya furthered.
Beneficiaries may opt to enroll in either the micro-enterprise development track or the employment facilitation track after engaging themselves in capacity-building drills.
The municipal government promised to provide additional capital or investment to graduates and will also look into the possibility of establishing a souvenir shop featuring products of dressmaking graduates.
