LA PAZ, Magalang – The Bridges of Benevolent Initiative Foundation, Inc. announced that 51 of its college scholars in the First District of Pampanga will graduate this year.
BBI President Dr. Irineo Alvaro Jr. told iOrbitNews on Saturday that 17 scholars from Magalang town will graduate at the Pampanga State University (PSAU), 25 scholars at the City College of Angeles, three scholars at Don Honorio Ventura State University and six at the Holy Angel University.
Alvaro said all the scholars in Magalang town will work for his firms at the Clark Freeport Zone except one BS Education valedictorian who will work as a teacher at PSAU. Some scholars from other areas will also seek employment in his firms.
The scholars finished 4-year college education ranging from Animal Science, Information Technology, Entrepreneurship, BS Education, Architecture and BS Marketing.
At least 14 scholars had already graduated under the scholarship program of the BBI Foundation, according to Alvaro. He said more poor but deserving students will be given the chance to change their lives through education.
Alvaro said the BBI Foundation seeks to “cut the cycle of poverty though education.”
Alvaro himself strived to get an education rekindling the words of his late father, Irineo Alvaro Sr. who told him “to get an education in whatever way he can.” Alvaro worked a student aide at the University of Sto Tomas, Wesleyan University and Holy Angel College just to get an education.
Alvaro launched the “Tulong Dunong” program several years ago granting full four-year college scholarship to scholars.
