5,574 IP households in Nueva Ecija receive assistance

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) and partner institutions provided relief assistance to about 5,574 Indigenous Peoples households in Nueva Ecija.

NCIP Nueva Ecija Provincial Office and the Carranglan Community Service Center coordinated with different local government units (LGUs) in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th district for the provision of food and non-food items to IPs affected by the ongoing coronavirus disease health crisis namely the Kalanguya and Dumagat. 

“They also distributed assistance to migrant IPs which includes Ibaloi, Kankana-ey, Ayta, Ifugao, Bag-o and Applai,” NCIP Regional Director Ruben Bastero said.

“Through seamless coordination with LGUs and the Armed Forces of the Philippines, great help from our Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representatives and unending commitment of our IP leaders in the communities, majority of our IPs especially those in the far flung areas, have at least received food and cash assistance from the government and private sector,” he added.
