Six Philippine Air Force (PAF) airmen – three of them pilots – have died during the night proficiency flight training on Wednesday at the Crow Valley in Capas, Tarlac.
Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana has confirmed the death of the six airmen who were aboard the new S-70i Black Hawk Utility Helicopter procured from Poland recently.
The PAF already has 11 units of the S-70i Black Hawk Utility Helicopter and another five are expected to arrive before the end of the year. The Philippine government reportedly spent more than $240 million in the acquisition of the choppers.
The entire fleet of the PAF’s Black Hawk helicopters is grounded pending the investigation into the crash in Tarlac province, according to Lorenzana.
