About 671 were reported “near-hires” during the recently concluded Job and Business Fair
in Ayala Harbor Point Mall at the Subic Freeport Zone.
“Near-hires are job applicants who were considered hired but still need to submit additional or lacking requirements, or may need to attend further interviews or tests/exams,” Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Zambales Field Office Head Reynante Lugtu said.
DOLE will be conducting a month-long monitoring for the “near-hires”, as well as those subjected for further interview from reports submitted by the job and business fair employer-participants.
“We are hopeful that these applicants would eventually be hired,” he remarked.
Around 68 local companies and 8 Philippine Overseas Employment Administration-accredited overseas private recruitment agencies offered job vacancies for 2,645 local and 1,128 overseas employment, respectively.
Moreover, a number of DOLE partner agencies were present to provide assistance to jobseekers namely Department of Trade and Industry, Social Security System, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration. (PIA 3)
