The City Government through its Public Employment and Service Office (PESO) has hired some 696 under the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES).
Acting PESO Manager Rowena Venzon said during the student-parent orientation on April 27 at Jade Hall in Xevera Lot Only, students were categorized as local government unit-300; Department of Labor and Employment- LGU-270; SPES Capitol-126 and SPES McDo-28.
These student employees were assigned to barangay offices and to private establishments for 20 working days from May 2 to May 29. At the barangays, they were assigned to do Barangay Civil Registry System (BCRS) surveys in order to augment data gathered by the City Civil Registrar’s Office headed by Victor Terry Medina.
“Yung sa LGU ay makakatanggap ng P366.18 per day with a total of P 7,323.60. Para sa DOLE-LGU ay P 8,616.20 naman,” Venzon added.
City Mayor Marino Morales said this is the best training ground for the students to be prepared in the real world.
“Ing masanting pu keng summer job ayni, maranun lang mabiaysa reng anak tamu nung makananu ing makipag-obra pa ka-graduate ra ano mabibigla uling mas confident na la,” Councilor Rogelio ‘Jeng’ Yumul added.
“ Nag-apply po kami ng mga kaklasi ko sa PESO para makatulong sa gastusin ng mga parents naming ngayong pasukan. At para na rin po matuto ngayong summer imbes na nasa bahay lang po kami,” SPES beneficiary Larry Cunanan Jr. said.
