The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and the Philippine Sports Association for the Differently Abled (PHILSPADA), in partnership with the City Government of Baguio through the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) Baguio, hosted the Training the Trainers (TTT) Phase 2 – North Luzon Leg from July 13 to 15, 2026, at the CDRRMO Building, Baguio City. Centered on the theme, “From Technical Competence to Competition Readiness,” the three-day program brought together sports administrators, coaches, LGU representatives, teachers, athletes, and sports enthusiasts from across North Luzon to strengthen their knowledge and skills in para-sports development.
PWD representatives and coaches from Baguio, Tuguegarao, Isabela, Olongapo, Nueva Vizcaya, Pangasinan, and other parts of North Luzon participated in lectures on the history and principles of para-sports, athlete classification, disability-sensitive coaching, athlete identification, and competition management.
The program also featured sport-specific workshops in athletics, archery, powerlifting, sitting volleyball, swimming, and table tennis, culminating in practical coaching sessions and a mini-tournament simulation that reinforced participants’ technical competencies.
The training concluded with technical evaluations, regional action planning, and a commitment to strengthen grassroots para-sports initiatives in their respective communities. By equipping trainers with the knowledge and practical skills to support para-athletes, the initiative strengthened the shared commitment of the PSC, PHILSPADA, and the City Government of Baguio to promoting accessible, inclusive, and sustainable sports development for persons with disabilities. – Rica Loreine Borbon (UC-PIO Intern)
