Elite triathletes Mark Hosana and Monica Torres won their respective elite divisions at Tri-United 2 last Sunday, July 3 in Subic Bay.
Mark Hosana of team Unilab Activehealth led wire to wire and finished with a race-best time of 3:36:15, beating runner-up and teammate Benjamin Rana by almost five minutes and topping 3rd place finisher Arthur Piasecki of Red Dot Racing by 20 minutes.
On a hot day where National team member Maria Claire Adorna swam a race-best 29:31 swim split, Monica Torres had to overcome the 13-minute deficit after the swim with a 4th-best 1:54:27 bike split and a race-best 1:13:11 run. Racing for the first time in 2 months after a health scare, Torres won with a time of 3:53:11.
Monica Torres posted on her facebook page: “Happy to come away with the win after chasing Claire Adorna all morning. She was literally in a different zip code on the bike after demolishing everyone on the swim.”
Over 900 athletes participated in the triathlon event which consists of a 2km swim, a 60km bike, and a 15km run.
Nineteen YellowCab-TriClark triathletes represented Clark and Pampanga and all of them finished within the prescribed cut-off time.
