CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) will showcase the latest local inventions including its programs and services during the 2017 Regional Science and Technology (S&T) Week.
The S&T Week dubbed “Science for the People” will be held at Central Luzon State University in Science City of Muñoz on July 25-27.
“This primarily aims to showcase the latest developments in the S&T sector and how these can contribute in improving our lives and developing our economy,” DOST Regional Director Julius Caesar Sicat said.
“Through this event, we want these developments to be felt by every Filipino so they can benefit from these. We also hope to solicit the public’s support for its sustainable development,” Sicat explained.
One of the highlights of the event is the technology seminar on goat production and processing and hydrophonics for entrepreneurs who may want to venture into this kind of businesses.
“We will also be having technical sessions on designing, prototyping and commercialization of agricultural equipment and machineries. Likewise, a seminar on basic troubleshooting and maintenance of early warning devices will be conducted for local disaster risk reduction teams,” the official furthered.
The event will also include a techno-bazaar to help DOST-assisted small and medium enterprises market their products to the public.
There will also be a S&T film showing as well as the showcase of the Science Explorer Bus and the PAGASA Mobile Planetarium for the students to learn key science concepts in a fun and enjoyable manner.
The awarding of the BEST provincial SETUP adoptors from the region, as well as the Regional Invention Contest and Exhibit will also be featured during the three-day event.
This annual celebration is based on Proclamation No. 169, series of 1993, which declares every third week of July as “National Science and Technology Week.”
