TARLAC CITY — Members of the Tarlac Small and Medium Development Council (SMEDC) recently visited Iloilo and Guimaras as part of their assessment/planning and benchmarking initiative in a bid to adopt the best practices of the provinces.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Provincial Director Agnes Ramirez explained the benchmarking is one way of improving the businesses in Tarlac by learning from and through the experience of the business sectors in Iloilo and Guimaras.
“This can help our Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in developing new markets, increasing sales and becoming more competitive. Through this, we can introduce ways on the improvement and promotion of our local products,” Ramirez stated.
During the activity, the council visited the Tinukib Trade House, Pavia’s shared service facilities and Negosyo Center, DTI Iloilo and CM Bamboo Craft in Iloilo.
While in Guimaras, they explored Jordan Negosyo Center and Business Resource Center, Mango Fruit Processing Center, Trappist Monastery, Sapal’s Weavers, McNester Food Products.
Aside from this, they paid a courtesy visit at the offices of Pavia Mayor Michael Gorriceta, DTI Iloilo Provincial Director Diosdado Cadena, and DTI Guimaras Provincial Director Wilhelm Malones.
“We are planning to adopt processes, products and delicacies that we deem appropriate in our province,” she added.
