Kapampangans urged to join ‘Pamiyabe 18’ writing competition

ANGELES CITY — The organizer of Pamiyabe 18 continues to invite the Kapampangan youth in Central Luzon to submit entries for the competition.

Pamiyabe 18 Project Head Princess Joy Santos said the contest is open to all Kapampangan youth, including those with Kampampangan roots, aged 14 to 30 years old.

“Pamiyabe is a regional creative writing workshop and fellowship organized by The Angelite—official student publication of the Holy Angel University—in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. It is a chance for budding writers and artists to meet and share works with highly acclaimed national Filipino writers for four days and three nights, all expenses paid,” Santos explained.

Interested applicants may send entries in any of the following categories: short stories, cycle of poems, collection of poems, personal essay, and flash fiction.

Applicants are likewise required to submit a photo copy or a scanned copy of any valid ID, an accomplished application form, soft or hard copy of entries, 8.5 inches by 11.5 inches paper with Times New Roman as font style and 12 point as font size with 1.5 point line space.

Moreover, applicants are asked to send a compilation of their chosen genre with their preferred medium (English, Filipino or Kapampangan) in one of either of the abovementioned categories.

“All requirements can be sent through our e-mail address [email protected]. Entries may also be sent hand-carried to The Angelite Office, G/F Mamerto G. Nepomuceno Bldg., Holy Angel University, Holy Angel Avenue, Sto. Rosario Street, Angeles City,” Santos said.

All requirements must be submitted on or before September 28, 2017. Chosen entries will be announced within two weeks of deliberation.
