SM City Olongapo conducted the National Children’s Book Reading Day(NCBRD) on July 31, 2018 , an annual event under the program of SM Cares for Children and Youth that promotes literacy and encourages children to develop love for reading at an early age.

Fifty(50) students of Asinan Elementary School, grades 1 to 4 had the chance to listen to stories from Vibal and Anvil Publishings featured books, read by Maria Raquel Bustamante-Dela Torre of 96.7 Klite FM Olongapo and Marie Elaine Gonzales, leasing manager of SM Olongapo. The children enjoyed the book reading and actively participated in the discussion. The storytellers discussed the moral of each story and encouraged the students to make reading a daily habit.
Asinan Elementary School principal Anita Abille receives a Certificate of Appreciation from
SM Olongapo Asst. Mall Manager Ana Lorraine Azucena for her untiring support to SM’s
National Children’s Book Reading Day. The school also received 50 books, 1000 pencils and 50 school kits.
National Children’s Book Reading Day (NCBRD) is celebrated at SM Supermalls to let children experience the art of reading and to cultivate interest to learn at an early age, in partnership with the Department of Education(DepEd), Anvil Publishing , Vibal Publishing and National Bookstore.
SM Olongapo and the rest of SM Supermalls all over the Philippines and seven cities in China celebrated Book Reading Day with partners who have shared the same passion in advocating the promotion of literacy development at a young age. (PR)
