DILG asks for active public involvement in proposed shift to Federalism

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is urging the public to actively participate in the proposed constitutional reforms particularly the shift to Federalism.

In his message during a Town Hall Meeting with sectoral leaders in Central Luzon, DILG Assistant Secretary Jonathan Malaya welcomed public feedback in the process making of amending the 1987 Constitution.

“It’s about time to amend the 1987 Constitution and with this, we are open to work with everyone to improve the Constitution,” Malaya stressed.

The Consultative Committee to Review the 1987 Constitution (ConCom) is open for public opinion, and inputs to improve the current Constitution will be highly appreciated.

“President Rodrigo Duterte has already said that if the public has suggestions on the draft Federal Constitution, the ConCom will be open for any suggestions,” he said.

“We are open to hear your comments, suggestions, and inputs on the draft Federal Constitution by sending us a message at [email protected] and we will consider all of your concerns,” Malaya furthered.

The Town Hall Meeting was part of the two-day Federalism Roadshow organized by DILG in partnership with the provincial government of Pampanga, city government of San Fernando, and Philippine Information Agency.
