Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago graces the Central Luzon Federalism Convention (Regional Federalism Roadshow) on September 27, 2018, at Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center.
The program, initiated by the Department of the Interior and Local Government, has been staged to different provinces and cities in the Philippines, and is being attended by local officials.
In his message, Santiago, addressing before the officials in Region 3, expressed delight that the national government has always been in search for better plans that will contribute to the progress of the country.
“Isang bagay na ikinakatuwa ko sa ating gobyerno, naghahanap sila ng mga paraan para mas mapagaan ang buhay sa bansa. Katulad nitong isinusulong na Pederalismo, maiging pinag-aralan upang malaman ang mga magaganda at hindi magagandang dulot nito,” said Santiago.
Federalism is defined as a system of government in which power is divided between a national (federal) government and various regional governments, with two (2) main parts namely State and National.
Meanwhile, Santiago also warmly welcomed all delegates, citing that the convention is just one way to run towards progress and unity in the region.
“Central Luzon ang may pinakamababang inflation rate sa lahat ng rehiyon sa bansa. Ito ay bunga ng sama-sama nating pagsisikap tungo sa progreso. Progreso kung saan maganda ang pamamahala at natutugunan ang pangangailangan ng komunidad,” expressed Santiago.
For its edition in Central Luzon, delegates reached to some three thousand (3,000), including local chief executives, Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan officials, National Government Agencies, and Civil Society Organizations.
Discussions during the convention include the Overview of the Federal Constitution and the Structure of the Federal Government; Social and Political Reforms A: Bill of Rights, Obligations, and Social Justice; and Transitions, Amendments, and Updates on the Recommendations of the Constitutional Committee.
