P1-M ‘weed’ seized in Angeles drug bust, 4 arrested

ANGELES CITY — Anti-narcotics operatives seized P1 million worth of cannabis (dried marijuana) during a drug buy bust at Barangay Pulung Bulo here shortly after midnight Saturday, police authorities here said.

Senior Inspector Agnes Nolasco, chief of the Public Information Office (PIO), Angeles City Police Office, said four persons were arrested during the buy bust.

Nolasco identified the suspects as Jayvee Canillo, 21, alias Bro of Paminruan Square, sitio Manga in said village; Charlie Liclican, 26, of Bgy. Pandan; Joshua Manzano, 22, of Bgy. Mining, and Nicole Meneses, 23, student, all residents in this city.

Nolasco said anti-illegal drugs operatives and Canillo agreed to meet after they closed a deal for a quantitative amount of marijuana. She said the poseur buyer and the suspect met in front of L6020B residential unit.

Nolasco said the suspect, sensing the presence of cops nearby, quickly ran inside the house but was pursued by undercover cops and in the process caught other suspects while in the act of packing big rolls of marijuana believed ready for distribution.

There were reports the suspects allegedly distribute illegal drugs including marijuana at the entertainment district in Barangay Balibago.

Barangay Balibago chairman Rodelio “Tony” Mamac however denied the existence of illegal drugs gangs operating in the entertainment district.

The suspects were taken to ACPO for further investigation as violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act is being readied against them. (Jess Malabanan)
