CLARK FREEPORT — AirAsia Philippines director for Flight Operations Gomer B. Monreal strongly believes that Clark International Airport will be the future of aviation, citing a more convenient travel, hassle-free land and air traffic congestions as compared to Manila.
“The future of aviation, travel, and tourism is taking shape in Clark. Now more than ever, Clark is truly saving us from air traffic congestion, and enabling airlines and travelers to enjoy the convenience of traveling,” said Monreal during the inaugural flight to Incheon on Saturday.

Monreal said today’s inaugural flight is a fantastic opportunity for Filipino travelers to explore and experience winter in Korea.
With 180 passengers on board AirAsia Clark-Incheon inaugural flight, Monreal said AirAsia is indeed true to its commitment to provide the much needed international connectivity and convenience for travelers in Metro Manila, Central, and Northern Luzon.
Aside from Clark, AirAasia also offers several flights daily to Korea from Manila, Cebu, and Kalibo while domestic flights from Clark include Cebu, Davao, Puerto Princesa, Tacloban, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro.
Clark International Airport Corporation director retired PAF Brigadier General Raul del Rosario said the Clark-Incheon flight serves as another milestone for CIAC. “This is great news for travelers from North and Central Luzon.”
From Incheon, Del Rosario said AirAsia passengers can connect to other destinations in the world. “Truly Clark saves the day, ” commending AirAsia for being a reliable partner.
Del Rosario said CIAC is presently servicing 726 flights, both domestic and international. He said Clark is considered as among the busiest airports in the country today.
Del Rosario capped his speech by quoting AirAsia top man Tony Fernandez: “Winning is an amazing feeling.” He said at Clark International Airport, everyone is a winner.
AirAsia in the Philippines started with only two aircraft in 2012. It began its commercial operation in Clark Pampanga, and currently operates a fleet of 21 Airbus A320s from hubs in Manila, Cebu, Kalibo, and Clark.
“We were the first and only airline in 2011 that based operations here with only two planes,” said Monreal.
Fast forward to 2019, Monreal said AirAsia has a fleet of 22 jets and targeting to have a total of 70 in the next 10 years. From one hub in Clark, their hub operations expanded to include Metro Manila, Cebu, and Kalibo.
