ANGELES CITY — Opposition Councilor and Mayoralty Aspirant Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. has vowed to improve rural health units of this city.
During his visit at Barangay Pandan, he said residents don’t have to travel a long distance to reach the city’s only public hospital, Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center (RLMMC), formerly known as Ospital Ning Angeles (ONA).
Speaking in front of the villagers, Lazatin said the current rural health units of the city are in dire need of improvement in
facilities, services from medical professionals, and availability of medicines – all of which Lazatin vows to address when he is elected into office.
“The issue of providing affordable and accessible health care services to citizens is one of my priorities,” Lazatin said as he highlighted
his “Six-Point Agenda,” which includes health, education, solid waste management, housing, youth and sports development, and infrastructure.
Lazatin recalled that back when his father, the late Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin, served as Pampanga First District Representative, they
provided medical assistance and free medicines to constituents.
Lazatin said that he aims not only to continue what his father started but to improve on it, starting with the improvement of this city’s
rural health units.
Earlier, Lazatin had also shared one of his plans to improve the city’s health services by providing free mandatory annual physical check-up and other medical-related benefits for all Senior Citizens in this city.
This is also part of Lazatin’s platform, which includes strengthening and revitalizing the city’s rural health units to make the delivery of city health services more efficient and more accessible to the people; establishing a Newborn Screening Center in Angeles City to ensure the effective implementation of Republic Act 9709, otherwise known as the ‘Universal Newborn Hearing Screening and Intervention Act of 2009”; and improving the services and facilities of ONA, including the provision for medical supplies.
