ANGELES CITY — Police discovered Tuesday the ‘chopped’ body parts of a 28-year old “Tsinay” stuffed inside a washing machine during an ocular inspection at the victim’s residence in Barangay Amsic, a slum area northeast of this city, authorities said Wednesday.
Distraught lover and suspect Eduardo Macapagal Pasion, 40, was shot dead in an ensuing gun battle with the police, said Senior Supt. Narvin Mangune, director Angeles City Police Office (ACPO).
Mangune identified the victim as Lindsey Chan Avelino, live-in partner of the suspect.
Scene of the crime investigators who rushed to victim’s place were shocked to find dismembered body parts stuffed inside a washing machine while the head, arms, torso and legs were missing.
“Our SOCO team were surprised by what they discovered. It was a gruesome murder. The first incident of such scale in the crime history of Angeles City at least for a decade,” said Supt Elaine Villasis, chief of the ACPO information office.
Neighbors of the victim, Mangune said, heard the live-in partners quarrel on the night of March 24. Obviously Pasion suspected that his partner was having an affair with another man.
“This is a clear crime of passion,” said Mangune.
Mangune said neighbors noticed the suspect leaving, carrying a black bag heading towards a nearby community adjacent to Bgy. Amsic. He said some of the residents led investigators to the suspect’s place but were met by gunshots.
A policeman was hit during the first volley of gunfire but his armored vest saved him from a fatal wound, said Mangune.
A 9mm caliber pistol, a number of spent shells from the same firearm were found beside the body of Pasion.
Police also found body parts of the victim inside the black bag. The body parts were taken to a nearby funeral parlor. – Jess Malabanan
