DSWD inks MOA with 7th ID on prepositioning of relief goods

FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija — Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Army 7thInfantry Division (7thID) on providing augmentation support in delivering disaster response programs and services.

“This is pursuant to our agency memorandum released on October 16, 2018, in compliance to the directives of President Rodrigo R. Duterte during the 30thcabinet meeting wherein the prepositioning of relief goods in local government units is recommended to be discontinued. To comply with this while ensuring service delivery strategy is intact, we explored a possible partnership with the Armed Forces,” DSWD Regional Director Gemma Gabuya said.

Under the MOA, the 7thID allowed utilization of their warehouse at Fort Magsaysay for prepositioning DSWD relief goods.

“The primary purpose of this partnership is to facilitate uninterrupted flow of services particularly to those who are affected by calamities, especially within our Area of Responsibility,” 7th ID Commander Major General Lenard Agustin said.

Weeks from now DSWD will deliver the family food packs and non-food items to the facility.
