SM malls in the City of San Fernando joined the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED), a quarterly National Distaste Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC)-led activity that seeks to educate public on disaster preparedness against earthquakes and to showcase government capability on disaster response.
SM malls in Pampanga, Telabastagan and San Fernando Downtown held simulations on earthquake and evacuation actively participated by employees, tenants and staff on its continuous promotion in providing education and awareness to its front liners and partners on these natural and/or man-made catastrophe through conducting regular seminars on safety and evacuation.
Overall, more than 2,500 participants which includes customers, employees, staff of tenants and affiliates and agencies participated in the drill. Local government partners present are Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine National Police (PNP) of Municipality of Mexico and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO), who gave training and in close coordination with SM malls on earthquake and fire simulations.
All SM malls nationwide, including SM Savemore Market Apalit, actively participates in this worthy and life-saving endeavor. A regular seminar is held to tenants on the proper Dock, Cover and Hold position in times of earthquake and evacuation over mall orientations.
