BALANGA CITY (PIA) — Department of Science and Technology (DOST) donated personal protective equipment (PPE) and alcohol disinfectants to two hospitals in Balanga City as aid of ensuring enough supplies to combat the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
DOST Bataan Provincial Director Catalina V. De Leon-Cruz stated that the two beneficiaries were Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) and the Bataan St. Joseph Hospital and Medical Center (BSJHMC).
“We hope that these can help our health workers in their fight against the pandemic,” De Leon-Cruz said.
The provincial director added that with the assistance of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), protective suits, N95 masks, washable masks, face shields, and ear guards were delivered to the two hospitals.
De Leon-Cruz explained that the activity is under the One DOST Against COVID-19 Project launched as the agency’s contribution to the government-wide response to fight the spread of the infectious disease.
About 60 piece of protective suits, 75 pieces of N95 face masks, 130 pieces of washable face masks, 80 pieces of face shields, 35 piece of ear guards, and 64 liters of 70 percent Ethyl alcohol were received by BGHMC represented by Security Head Richard Landicho.
Meanwhile, BSJHMC Donations Coordinator Gerard De Guzman accepted the boxes of supplies containing 60 pieces of protective suits, 75 pieces of N95 face masks, 105 pieces of washable masks, 80 pieces of face shields, 35 pieces of ear guards, and 50 liters of 70% Ethyl alcohol.
Aside from the two hospitals, the PDRRMO was given seven liters of 70% Ethyl alcohol and 25 pieces of washable face masks, while the Abucay Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office received five liters of 70% ethyl alcohol.
A total of 13 medical institutions in Central Luzon received the similar supplies under the DOST project.
