Isinailalim sa Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) sa halip na General Community Quarantine (GCQ) ang mga probinsiya sa Gitnang Luzon makaraang katigan ng Regional Inter-Agency Task Force (RIATF) Region 3 ang mga kahilingan ng mga gobernador dito kabilang ang Angeles City na palawigin pa ang ECQ sa kanilang mga nasasakupan dahil sa banta ng Covid-19 disease.
Ang mga probinsiya ng Bulacan, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Zambales at Highly-Urbanized City of Angeles ay mananatili bilang Modified ECQ kung saan unang isinailalim bilang GCQ.
Ang rekomendasyon na isailalim bilang MECQ ang mga nabanggit na lugar at probinsiya ay kinatigan o inaprubahan base sa RIATF Resolution No. 1 Series of 2020 dated May 13, 2020 na nilagdaan nina Julie Daquioag, DILG Region 3 director at RIATF Chairperson and Cesar Cassio, DOH regional director at RIATF Co-Chairperson effective May 16 to May 31, 2020.
Nauna rito ay hiniling ng mga gobernador at Local Chief Executives sa mga nabanggit na lugar sa Department of Health (DOH) at Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF), na i-implement ang extension ng ECQ o Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) hanggang sa katapusan ng buwan ng Mayo para maiwasan ang pagkakaroon ng COVID-19 transmission.
Base sa liham na ipinadala kay DOH Secretary Francisco Duque at IATF Co-Chairperson Secretary Karlo Alexei Nograles, umapela ng reclassification ng General Community Quarantine (GCQ) to MECQ sina Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. ng Angeles City, Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando, Governor Dennis Pineda ng Pampanga at ang iba pang mga lokal na opisyal sa Region 3 kung saan nabanggit dito.. “the number of COVID-19 related cases in their respective areas are increasing and there is an upward trend in these numbers.”
Tinanggap naman ng RIATF ang validity ng mga kadahilanan ng isinasaad ng mga Provincial at Highly-Urbanized Cities-Local Chief Executives sa kanilang kahilingan kaugnay ng community quarantine implementation partikular na sa mgamayroong high number of Covid-19 test results pending; low percentage of tested cases at necessity for a preparation/ transition phase mula ECQ to GCQ.
“As of Wednesday, Bulacan has 139 confirmed Covid-19 cases followed by Bataan with 109, Pampanga with 80 cases, Nueva Ecija with 46, Tarlac 31, Zambales 27 while Angeles City has 17 positive of Covid-19,” RIATF R3 said.
Ayon kay Gov. Fernando, ang Bulacan ay mayroong 746 pending test results at 1,320 cases for swabbing.
Sa Lungsod ng Angeles, umabot sa 2,371 individuals ang sumailalim sa rapid tests kung saan prayoridad dito ang mga probable cases, persons with exposure, at City Hall frontline workers, ayon kay Lazatin.
“I am in constant coordination with the Philippine Red Cross, Provincial Government of Pampanga, and Department of Health to extend the City’s capabilities and resources to widen the conduct of rapid mass testing,” ani Lazatin.
