CSFP continues fight vs coronavirus under Modified ECQ

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The fight of the city government to contain the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) continues under the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ).

This after the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease granted the appeal of the provincial government of Pampanga, where San Fernando is part of, to be placed under MECQ from May 16-31, 2020.

Mayor Edwin D. Santiago said the period of MECQ will help the city to better prepare for the gradual shift to General Community Quarantine.

“We are in constant coordination with the provincial government as we cannot solve this crisis alone. We must coordinate and collaborate for the betterment of our cabalens. This is not a popularity contest. This is saving lives, the city and the province,” Santiago said.

He assured Fernandinos that the city government continues its COVID-19 initiatives that are geared towards economic recovery.

“We are not wasting our money. We will prioritize massive testing so that people can go back to work, back to reopening their businesses,” Santiago said.

Minimum health standards and strict home quarantine, except for those accessing essential goods and services, will still be observed under MECQ.

Operation of establishments and offices except those for leisure and entertainment will be allowed while public transportation is still suspended.
