Senator Lito Lapid is pushing to enact into law the Senate Bill (SB) 1525 which seeks to grant moratorium on rental fees of residential units covering cities, municipalities and provinces under state of calamity or emergency.
This shall be enforced 30 days upon termination of state of calamity or emergency.
Lapid said this will protect tenants from being evicted during the pandemic allow them focus on their basic needs.
The bills will also cover commercial rental of micro, small and medium enterprises which were shut down following the lockdown.
