DepEd III launches reconfigured Brigada Eskwela and Oplan Balik Eskwela

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga– A new norm concept of the Brigada Eskwela (BE) and Oplan Balik Eskwela (OBE) will kick off on June 3 through a virtual program which will include the engagement of stakeholders and addressing problems, queries and other concerns in the preparation for the start of classes. 

Slogan for this year’s conduct of BE and OBE “Bayanihan sa Paaralan” highlights the application of knowledge and convergence of efforts to address the required health standards and social issues at home, in school, and in the community in the context of COVID-19. 

The Brigada Eskwela will focus on the preparation and strengthening partnership engagement to the implementation of the Basic Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP) at time of COVID-19 pandemic. 

School heads will be coordinating with Local Government Unit (LGU), non-government organization (NGOs) and volunteers to clean and disinfect schools, classrooms and other schools facilities. As well as installing disinfectants and sanitizers and providing thermal scanners, soaps, facemasks and face shield.

On the other hand, the Oplan Balik Eskwela addresses enrollment-related problems, queries and other concerns. DepEd Regional Office III assures that there is no physical enrollment for the first two weeks of June pursuant to health protocols imposed by the Inter-Agency Task Force on emerging infectious disease (IATF-EID). 

Starting June 1, DepEd rolls out guidelines for the enrollment of School Year 2020-2021 recently released which mandates former advisers of the students were mandated to coordinate with parents

“The former class advisers will call parents using their class register last year for the students be enrolled. The remote enrollment will run in two weeks. Schools are mandated to exhaust all their means to contact their learners and parents.” DepEd Region III , Policy, Planning and Research Division Officer-in-charge Matrose Galarion Ed.D., said on a virtual conference. 

For incoming and transferee students, they will notify the respective school of choice. 

“Schools had their contact numbers posted outside school premises and on social media. We have focal persons whom will be entertain concerns via phone”. Galarion added. 

Oplan Balik Eskwela seeks to strengthen its synergy with the Department’s Brigada Eskwela for this school year to engage agencies, organizations, and other stakeholders in contributing to educational needs, especially at this critical time. 

DepEd will start classes on August 24 , 2020 but only in the areas by the low risk classification and applicable quarantine guideline by that time.
