33 medical workers in Bulacan positive with COVID-19

A total of 33 medical workers in Bulacan have tested positive for COVID-19 and another one has died from the said infectious disease.

This was confirmed by Dr. Jocelyn “Joy” Gomez, provincial public health officer of Bulacan who said that seven of these were doctors, one midwife, 24 nurses and one nursing attendant while the lone fatality was a doctor, Gomez said.

Gomez added that national government is supposed to provide P100,000 cash assistance to the infected medical workers and P1 million to those who died from the disease.

When asked if these medical workers have received their financial aid from the national government, Gomez said “Wala pa.”

Governor Daniel Fernando said that the provincial government of Bulacan has already opened the Bulacan Infection Control Center (BICC) at the Bulacan Medical Center where the infected medical workers were and are being confined and treated for free.

The governor said the province has also come out with an ordinance wherein all those that died from COVID-19 are to received P30,000 financial aid.

Fernado added that for positive asymptomatic patients, they can be accommodated at the Governance Center at the Capitol compound ground in Malolos while overseas Filipino workers undergoing quarantine can be housed at the provincial quarantine center inside the Bulacan State University compound also in Malolos.
