TARLAC CITY — Municipal Government of Sta. Ignacia imposed stricter measures against coronavirus disease as it confirmed its first positive case.
In an interview, Mayor Nora Modomo enumerated the actions taken they have taken to prevent the further spread of the disease.
Immediately after the announcement of the first confirmed case in town, hard lockdown was imposed in Barangay Taguiporo to give way for the contact tracing and disinfection.
“We have distributed relief goods to the 172 households in the affected barangay and will continually distribute as the hard lockdown will last for 14 days,” said Mayor Modomo.
Currently, the confirmed COVID-19 positive patient is being monitored in the quarantine facility at New Clark City while the people he had contact with had also undergone swab testing.
Meanwhile, Locally Stranded Individuals are also required to undergo rapid testing in the Rural Health Unit before going home and complete the mandatory 14-day home quarantine.
In addition, Modomo said the municipal government will produce posters and markers to remind the residents of the minimum health standards.
“We will place tarpaulins and foot markers in public areas to serve as a reminder and guidance of the people in maintaining social distancing and frequent hand washing,” Modomo explained.
Market passes are still in effect in the public market of Sta. Ignacia, while on Sundays, it remains closed for disinfection.
To her constituents, Modomo asked for cooperation in the eliminating the spread of the disease in town.
“Unity is a must in these trying in times, if we will not help each other, we will not get through this health crisis. If we’ll not wear our masks, wash our hands, and maintain social distancing, there is big possibility that we’ll have an increased number of cases in our municipality,” she emphasized.
