Fontana denies involvement in Chinese-led prostitution ring

The Fontana Development Corporation has denied involvement in the alleged Chinese-led prostitution ring that operates in the resorts.

In a statement, Fontana Sr. External Affairs Manager Rodel V. Poy Lorenzo said: “We categorically deny any knowledge of or involvement in said purported criminal acts or in any other alleged wrongdoing within our premises.”

Last Tuesday, August 11, 2020, elements of the CIDG Special Operation and Anti-Transnational Crime rescued eight women – six Chinese and two Vietnamese – at Villas 5202, 5203, and 5204.

Six Chinese nationals were nabbed in the act of negotiating with undercover agents for the sexual services of the women. But the suspects were later released without charges.

“In truth, we are greatly saddened by the news that the good name of Fontana Leisure Parks and Casino is once again being dragged in connection with an incident of which it was absolutely unaware,” said Poy Lorenzo.

Poy Lorenzon said they informed authorities that these villas were rented by a random walk-in guest, which is not a tenant, a member or even a regular or frequent guest.

“Based on our security reports, no unusual or suspicious activities were observed outside the villas in question at the time of the alleged incident. As with any other hotel and resort, we respect the privacy of our guests while they are within the confines of their villas. We have no control over the activities of our guests while they are inside their respective rooms,” said Poy Lorenzo.

He said Fontana “does not and will never condone any illegal activity within its property.”
