LEGAZPI CITY – The new police chief in Bicol has vowed to reinforce the “Kasurog Cops”, a police community program that will build strong relationships with the communities in the region.
Brig. Gen. Bartolome Bustamante assumed office as director of the Police Regional Office-5 on Friday, replacing Police Brig. Gen. Anthony Alcañeses who has reached his mandatory retirement age.
Bustamante, who hails from Pangasinan, is a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Makatao” class of 1989.
He said in a ceremony at Camp Simeon Ola here that challenges are many especially during this most trying time of a pandemic and the new normal calls for a police template consisting of operation, investigation, and community relations to efficiently and effectively address issues.
“We have to come up with appropriate, timely intervention and counter-action that would address all forms of threats to peace and order and security,” he said.
“These are the core values that I would like to inculcate in our police force that in every action there should be corresponding results because we have a community to look after,” Bustamante added. (PNA)
