Gov’t agencies pledge support to DOH BIDA Solusyon campaign

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Government agencies pledged to support the BIDA Solusyon sa COVID-19 campaign of Department of Health (DOH).

BIDA; which stands for Bawal Walang Mask, I-sanitize ang mga Kamay, Dumistansya ng Isang Metro, and Alamin ang Totoong Impormasyon; is a DOH campaign focused mainly on the information dissemination of minimum public health standards for awareness and change in behavior of the people.

Regional Task Force on COVID-19 Chairperson and Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Regional Director Maria Theresa Escolano expressed the campaign’s alignment to the National Action Plan.

“This campaign practically encapsulates everything the PDITR or Prevent-Detect-Isolate-Treat-Reintegrate Strategy of the National Action Plan,” Escolano said.

“It is very catchy and very empowering implying we can be heroes who can save lives on our own special ways,” she added.

With this, Escolano expressed OCD’s response in the call to save lives and to heal as one.

“To our DOH Central Luzon Center for Health and Development family, please be assured of our unwavering support, we are one with you in this fight against COVID-19,” she said.

For her part, Regional Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases Chairperson and Department of the Interior and Local Government Regional Director Julie Daquioag shared the immediate actions taken by her agency to local government units (LGUs) to take part in the campaign.

“All the memorandums pertaining to BIDA Solusyon Campaign, we have already disseminated down to the barangay level,” Daquioag said.

“We will always remind the LGUs of their mandate to inform their constituents so we can, altogether, heal as one,” she added.

Lastly, in fulfillment of the last letter in the BIDA campaign which promotes consumption of factual information and responsible sharing of information, Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Regional Director William Beltran stressed the importance of information during these times.

“We believe in the PIA that information empowers people that’s why we are promoting the right, relevant, and timely information most especially during disasters, during pandemic, because information could save lives,” he noted.

He emphasized that through BIDA Solusyon, Filipinos will be more sensitive in interpreting factual information.

“We really need to instill among all of us the proper discernment on every information we receive whether that be in print, in broadcast, or others, we should always be looking towards what accurate information should we share, should we believe in and that’s what we need to instill among other people and this BIDA Solusyon Campaign we will be a good strategy towards reaching that,” Beltran said.
