CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Department of Education (DepEd) is ready for the opening of School Year 2020-2021 this Monday, October 5, amid the threat of COVID-19.
“We are more than ready to respond to the challenges of the New Normal Education thru the implementation of the Regional Learning Continuity Plan. We hope to have provided the necessary guidance and technical assistance to the schools division offices and basic education schools both public and private,” DepEd Regional Director Nicolas Capulong said during Friday’s virtual kick-off program.
“We commend all our teachers, school heads, non-teaching personnel and schools division superintendents for taking on the challenge to adapt to the new mode of teaching and learning for the coming school year. At the same time, we also wish to extend our profound gratitude to our partners in education like our local government officials, media partners and other benevolent groups and individuals who tirelessly support us,” he added.
Capulong personally thanked parents and students for trusting DepEd’s efforts by deciding to enroll this school year.
“Education will continue despite of the pandemic as well all ensure the health and safety of our learners and personnel. Together, we will learn and we will heal as one,” he stressed.
Per DepEd Regional Policy, Planning and Research Division, a total of 2,732,479 learners in Central Luzon are enrolled for School Year 2020-2021 as of October 1.
From the figure, 2,393,421 or 87.59% are enrolled in public schools, 333,046 or 12.19% in private schools and 6,012 or .22% in state and local universities and colleges.
Alternative Learning Modalities this school year include digital modular distance learning, printed modular distance learning, synchronous online distance learning, asynchronous online distance learning, television-based instruction, radio-based instruction, and blended distance learning.
